Comments page: TNIV test #2

The TNIV (Today's New International Version) is the most recent English version to be published. It is currently only available as the New Testament. Here we would like to test translation wordings of the TNIV to determine how well they communicate the meaning intended by the TNIV translators. The purpose of translation testing is to improve translations.

Please note that we are only testing a translation here. We are NOT testing your knowledge of the Bible or your competence in English. If any translation words being tested do not make sense to you, please just say so, with something like "meaningless" or "doesn't sound like English". It is more helpful for our testing if you simply write that something does not make sense to you than if you try to make sense out of something which does not sound like good English to you. You may answer the questions from any background knowledge you already have of the wordings being tested, if you wish, but if you are able to separate yourself from that background knowledge and answer as if you spoke only a dialect of Standard English and had not heard the test phrases before, that would be especially useful for our test results. Please do not use any other materials, including any Bibles or commentaries, to help you answer this test.
